Knitting Round Table - Beginners to Experienced

from Roos Roast Knits

Have you ever watched people knitting and thought that looks like fun? Bring some straight needles (size 8) and some light colored yarn and join us for a knitting adventure. If you already know how to knit, dust off that unfinished project and come along.

I can't remember when I learned to knit but it was a long time ago. I have knit sweaters, socks (toe up and top down), lace, more hats than I can count, scarves, mittens, and gloves. For while, I was into the novelty yarn craze and then felting. I prefer circular knitting where possible and I love wool.

I have been wanting to learn to knit and crochet for years! So happy I found this class. Thanks, Jeanne! If you don't think it would be too hard for a beginner like me, I'd like to make a hat. What do I need to buy before Sunday?

Hi Laura - I think you could make a hat. I found a couple of easy patterns that you could try. You need one skein of bulky yarn. I recommend wool because it is nicer to work with. You can get yarn downtown at Busy Hands. You can also get some at Michaels or Joann's but that might be acrylic. You also need a 16" circular needle (size 11) and one set of double pointed needles (size 11). I would not get black yarn as it is harder to see the stitches. Hats are usually knit in the round and that takes a bit of getting used to. If you have no experience, it might be good to bring a set of straight needles in size 11. These come in pairs. Double-pointed come in sets of 4 or 5. Let me know if you have any questions. I will bring the two patterns.
